Over the years, I have struggled with all of the above.....
One of the best baits for offshore trolling dolphin, tuna, and marlin fishing is white squid. It is actually one of my absolute favorite trolling baits for large pelagic, especially around the full moon phases.
A couple of years ago, I perfected this rig and have not shared it until now. I am able to run this rigged dead squid deep in the water column off of my downrigger for large tunas, wahoo, and dolphin. It will outperform live bait at times, especially during the months of August through September for dolphin fishing off the Florida Keys. I can run the "Cyborg Squid" rig at higher speeds and skip it over grass with no issues. When fishing heavy weed, this rig work great.
Kayak Fishing
This rig is perfect for slow trolling, you can extend your time on the water with this rig. If you are jigging, you will want this rig run out the back of your kayak as a flat line over a dead ballyhoo.
Sword Fish Guys Take Note
This is not a swordfish rig, but...
There is not much out there on rigging squid right now, except the same "ole same ole". The guys I know that swordfish are always working on a new rig and are pioneers in the industry because they lay awake at night thinking of new swordfish rigs. Take this one and modify it. I guarantee you, that once you see this rig, your brain will catch fire.
